From the 16.06.2026 till the 19.06.2026, we took part in the OLMUN conference in Oldenburg. OLMUN stands for Oldenburg Model United Nations. It is a conference, which is made out of 13 committees, where students across all countries are able to participate in, represent different countries, and therefore discuss international global issues. This year we represented Algeria, Monaco, the Republic of Korea, Norway and Switzerland. A cool coincidence was that it was the 25th anniversary of OLMUN, so it was a special week for all of us. One author of this article was in the Security Council, representing the Republic of Korea and the other was in the General Assembly 3rd, representing Algeria.

At first, we had an opening ceremony, where the secretary members introduced themselves and explained some things essential for the committees, like points or motions. Many delegates and honorary guests gave speeches, we could pass notes to other delegates and so much more! Later that day, we had a barbecue, where we could meet new people and our commitee.

In the span of the days , we had many commitee sessions, where we debated about the issues assigned to our commitee, made resolutions and sometimes got punished. We even could submit gossip into our gossip box and it was so fun! During the breaks we could explore the beautiful city Oldenburg, had discounts on certain shops and enjoyed our time there. On almost every day, we had evening activities, like volleyball, hanging out, or playing twister. On the third day, we had our last activity, a party. The party was made out of two parts- one was for everybody and the other was a 16+ event later in the evening.

The trip back home was a disaster. No functional air conditioner and HOT temperatures. We still arrived safely, with a little delay. In conclusion, the trip was a success! We met many new people, made friends and had a great time. We really recommend OLMUN, because it’s something new.

We thank the Schulverein for supporting our trip financially!!
